Competitive Fruitcake Eating? Only In Santa Claus, Indiana!

November 4, 2009 (Santa Claus, Ind.) - This Christmas season, the expanded five-weekend Santa Claus Christmas Celebration will feature several new events, one of which is a series of family-friendly contests.

“We are adding an element of competiveness to the Santa Claus Christmas Celebration,” says Philip Koch, chairman of the Santa Claus Christmas Celebration committee. “These contests will be a new and exciting component to our Christmas celebration.”

Contests during the Santa Claus Christmas Celebration include:

  • Fruitcake Eating Contest
  • Fastest Gift Wrapping Contest
  • Fastest Christmas Tree Decorating Contest
  • Fastest Gingerbread House Building Contest
  • Also, two aesthetic contests which feature Christmas Tree Decorating and Gingerbread House Building.

Contests will take place at the Santa Claus American Legion on Saturdays and Sundays during the five weekends of the Christmas celebration. Over $2,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded throughout the celebration. Winners from the first four weekends will qualify for the final weekend of competition and a cash prize. The deadline to enter the contests is Monday, November 16.
