Visitors Bureau Launches iPhone Application with Holiday World

The Spencer County Visitors Bureau now has an app for that, “Holiday World… and more!”

The Visitors Bureau recently partnered with Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari to develop an iPhone application through AVAI Mobile Solutions. The application features Santa Claus, Indiana: America’s Christmas Hometown and Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home, in addition to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari.

The Town of Santa Claus and Spencer County, Indiana, have both declared Tuesday, May 11, 2010, as “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Day.”

The designation comes during the kickoff week to the tourism season—in Spencer County, the state and the nation. As part of the celebration, the Visitors Bureau will host a tourism luncheon featuring keynote speaker Tim O’Brien, vice president of communications of Ripley Entertainment. Some of the “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” cartoons played a key role in initiating local tourism.

Former State Tourism Director to Lead Spencer County Tourism Vision

The Spencer County Tourism Commission has hired former Indiana Tourism Director John Goss to facilitate the development of a strategic vision for travel and tourism in the county.

Goss became very familiar with Spencer County’s tourism industry during his decade-long tenure as Director of the Indiana Tourism Division. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Indiana Wildlife Federation. He also previously served as Director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
