The Spencer County Tourism Commission has hired former Indiana Tourism Director John Goss to facilitate the development of a strategic vision for travel and tourism in the county.
Goss became very familiar with Spencer County’s tourism industry during his decade-long tenure as Director of the Indiana Tourism Division. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Indiana Wildlife Federation. He also previously served as Director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The Spencer County Tourism Commission elected officers for 2010 at its January meeting.
The following officers were elected: President, Mary Jeanne Schumacher of Saint Meinrad Archabbey; Vice-President, Paula Werne of Holiday World & Splashin' Safari; Secretary, Gay Ann Harney, Spencer County Clerk, and Treasurer Larry May of Santa's Lodge, St. Nick’s Restaurant.

And so, the newly expanded five-weekend Santa Claus Christmas Celebration will include a fruitcake-eating contest with handmade Grandma’s Fruitcakes from Beatrice Bakery Co. of Beatrice, Nebraska.
